Bhante Rewatha, the founder of Glasgow Mindfulness Centre, has started a new project to support diabetic patients living in the Palinda Nuwara area in Sri Lanka. The project aims to raise awareness of the possibility of the loss of eyesight due to diabetes. According to the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka, Retinopathy screening is extremely important in preventing diabetic blindness as 24% of the urban population and 14 % of the rural population have diabetes. The course 'Mindfulness training for mothers' is aimed at mothers who have children, 0 months to 8 years old and are experiencing post-natal depression. We will also accept mothers with stress, anxiety or depression. The 8 week course begins on Monday the 5th of September 2016. The courses will run on a Monday morning from 10am – 12pm. The venue is 1 Caldercuilt Road, Glasgow, G20 0AD. This course is free of charge, thanks to funding from the Big Lottery. he torrential rains after months of drought has resulted in severe floods in almost 19 administrative districts in Sri Lanka, hampering the lived of thousands. The worst scenario had been the landslides in the mountain regions where still many lives are unaccounted for. Heavy rains from Thursday 12th May pounded the central Sri Lankan region where at least three villages have already been swallowed by mountains of mud, forcing soldiers and police to suspend rescue work.
